AWAMN Partners National Institute for Policy & Strategic Studies Kuru, Jos

The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) recently in October 2024 partnered with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) Kuru Jos, which is a Federeal Government Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Presidency for training, Policy conceptualisation and proposition for Nigeria and all other African States, in collaboration with Nigeria Institute for Chartered Waste Managers to organise A Waste Management Conference/Workshop & Exhibition with the sole aim of influencing the Federal Government policy formulation on Integrated Waste Management Practice in Nigeria. The workshop was also aimed at exposing a lot of the members of the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) and other waste management practitioners and officers of various Federal Government Agencies and State Governments to newer trends, technologies and innovations within Waste management value-chain.

The theme is the event is: Strategic Governance in Waste Management; Policy and Practice

The event was indeed very interactive, educative, insightful and impactful as all participants were satisfied with the program and called for more of such event.

There were participants from NIMASA, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun and Lagos States in addition to a large number of AWAMN members that attended the event.

Key amongst the Distinguished Guests and Speakers at the event are; Dr. Ola Oresanya, Honourable Commisioner of Ogun State, Special Adviser to Kano State Governor on Environment, Mallan Usman Bala Mohammad, Mr. Olugbenga Adebola, National President of AWAMN, Hon. Habiba Balarabe Sulaiman, Rep of Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Hon. Olasunkanmi Onipede, DG, Ekiti State Waste Management Authority and Rep of Governor, Mrs. Olayinka DG, Ondo State Waste Management Authority and Rep of Governor, Dr. Salawu CEO of Macpress and Dr. Abiola Bashorun CEO of ZLGA amongst other.
